Letter of demand drafting
A clear, correctly worded letter of demand often recovers the money without any further step. We draft it, you send it — or we send it on your instruction.
What you receive
- Letter of demand on our letterhead or yours
- Correct payment deadline and interest wording
- A record of delivery for later proceedings
- Guidance on the next step if the deadline passes
Common questions
How long should I give the other party to pay?
Seven to fourteen business days is standard for an ordinary commercial debt, unless a contract or statute prescribes a specific period.
What happens if they ignore the letter?
The next step is usually summons or a small claims court application, depending on the amount. Litigation is reserved work, so we refer you to an admitted legal practitioner at that point.
We do provide legal advice — but only on non-reserved matters. Nkadimeng Danny Legal and Compliance Support provides legal information and legal advice on non-reserved matters, and prepares legal opinions. We are not a firm of admitted attorneys, so we do not undertake work reserved by the Legal Practice Act 28 of 2014 and we do not represent clients in court. See our full scope.
